Sony Ericssona well known name in the mobile phone industry has come up with its latest handsets Sony Ericsson Zylo and Sony Ericsson S312.
We take a look at the Sony Ericsson Zylo and the Sony Ericsson S312 to find out who emerges the winner in this race.
Build quality and Measurements
Both devices are designed by Sony Ericsson, so you would expect they would be of a similar build quality. While both phones support good designs, they sport a different look.
The Zylo has been built with plastic and small fiddly buttons on the upper section of the device with a direct key to walkman, as it is a handset under the Sony Ericsson's walkman series.
On the other hand, the S312 has two metallic keys, but the other keys are quite close to each other.
Size wise, the Sony Ericsson Zylo at 115g (103 x 52 x 16mm) is 35g heavier than the Sony Ericsson S312 80g (100 x 46 x 13mm).
All in all, we think that both devices are gorgeous in looks and design. But after seeing and using both we have to give the Sony Ericsson S312 favour in this instance, as it has quite light weight and 2 metallic keys make it more attractive.

The Sony Ericsson Zylo has a 2.60 inches LCD display screen with a resolution of 320 x 240 pixels. However, the Sony Ericsson S312 is equipped with just a 2 inches LCD display screen with a resolution of 220 x 176 pixels.

Storage
Storage is one of the most important parts of any handset these days. You always wish to keep as much media as possible in your cell phone. To do so you need a lot of memory space in your device.
The Sony Ericsson Zylo when compared with the Ericsson S312, has a more onboard storage – a 260MB, believe it or not – and S312 offers just 15MB, the Zylo has microSD support and can be upgraded to 16GB via this, while in S312 you can just upgrade its memory up to 4GB.

Cameras
The Zylo is equipped with a 3.2 megapixel camera with upto 2x digital zooming. On the other hand, the S312 has a 2 megapixel camera with flash for better pictures even where there is less light.

Network Support
The Sony Ericsson S312 just support 2G network while Zylo supports both 3G and 2G networks. The 3G support gives zylo extra brownie points as the 3G network is increasingly becoming popular in India.

The new Zylo is a walkman mobile phone which has excellent music features and can play numerous formats like MP3, AAC, AAC+, eAAC+, WMA, FLAC and also allows you to play games during your leisure time.
However, on the other hand the S312 does not have a good music player and can only play MP3 format.

Verdict
If you are looking for a simple and classic mobile phone without any frills then Sony Ericsson S312 would suit you but if you are looking for a feature rich phone with good music features, Zylo is the right choice.
