We compare the HTC Touch 3G and the Nokia E63 to see which is the better smartphone.
Form factor
One of the most obvious differences between the Nokia E63 and HTC Touch 3G is that the latter is a full touchscreen device, while the former features a non-touchscreen display and full Qwerty keyboard.
The keyboard is a great feature of the E63, allowing you to type much faster, after al, an onscreen keyboard isn't always the best way for inputting text, especially as the HTC Touch 3G's screen is the less responsive resistive screen rather the better capacitive screen.
The large screen on the HTC Touch 3G is better for browsing the internet though, because of its size.
Winner: Nokia E63
Size and weight
The E63 is a little larger than the HTC Touch 3G. The E63 measures 53.6x14.5x102mm, where the smaller HTC Touch 3G measures 59x13x113mm.
The HTC Touch 3G is also the lighter of the two - 96g compared to the E63's 126g.

User interface
The Nokia E63 sticks to Nokia's old smartphone operating system - S60, and it looks pretty out of touch. Although it's fast and responsive, the menu looks like it's blasting straight through from the mid-90's.
The Touch 3G in contrast, uses the Windows Mobile operating system. It's not as developed as Windows Phone 7, but is great if you're familiar with Windows workings and have previously used a Windows Mobile handset.
The Touch 3G's screen features HTC's Touch FLO skin too, making it much more finger-friendly. It also feel more finished and is easier to navigate with in comparison to older Windows Mobile devices.
Winner: HTC Touch 3G
Navigation
Navigating is pretty high up on the menu with both the Nokia E3 and HTC Touch 3G.
The Nokia E62 features Nokia's Maps 2.0, although there's no GPS - one major flaw. You can use triangulation using the network, but it's not as accurate as true GPS.
The HTC Touch 3G does feature GPS, making it a much better option if you're looking for something that does offer a true navigation experience.
Winner: HTC Touch 3G
Internals
Both the Nokia E63 and HTC Touch 3G feature Bluetooth, EDGE, 3G and Wi-Fi.
The HTC Touch 3G though, also offers HSDPA - great if you can get high speed data.

Verdict
We’re declaring it a tie. If you’re going to be emailing a lot and don’t want a BlackBerry, we’d say go for the E63. If you’re not going to lament the lack of keys and are more into funky new things and web-hungry multimedia, the Touch 3G is the one that you want.
