Phones that stole the thunder and made it to our top 10 list - with prices and release dates

Some smartphones at MWC conspicuously stood out to be the ‘smartest’ smartphones ever produced. We bring you the top ten.

1. HTC One X

The 10mm thick handset comes with ICS OS, 1.5GHz Tegra 3 chipset, 32GB storage, 4.7-inch S-LCD display, 1.3-megapixel front and 8-megapixel rear cameras. Expected to be launched on 5th April, 2012, the device will be HTC’s first quad-core.

2. Huawei Ascend D Quad

1.2GHz K3V2 quad-core processor, Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) OS, 8-megapixel camera, and 4.5-inch HD-display elevates its desirability to new heights. Launch date expected sometime in Q2 2012.

With claims of being world’s fastest quad-core smartphone, and ability to outclass Nvidia's Tegra 3 chipset, it earns a place in the top-notch.

3. LG Optimus 4X HD

The device sports a 8.9mm chassis, Nvidia's 1.5GHz Tegra 3 processor with GeForce graphics, 16GB storage, 4.7-inch HD-display, ICS OS and 8-megapixel camera all together making it  quite a neat phone. It is expected to hit UK stores in June.

This is the world's second fastest quad-core smartphone!

4. LG Optimus Vu

In 8.5mm casing, it packs in a Android Gingerbread OS, 1.5GHz dual-core processor, 32MB storage space, 5-inch IPS-display, 8-megapixel primary and 1.3-megapixel secondary camera. Release date expected in early March 2012. It competes with Samsung Galaxy Note in department of ‘tablet-phones’!

5. Nokia 808 Pureview

Running on Symbian OS, Nokia 808 PureView sports a 4-inch sub-HD display and 1.3GHz processor, the UK release date is rumoured to be April 23rd. Talking of photographic abilities, its 41-megapixel ‘out-of-the-world’ camera outshines all others.

6. Sony Xperia P

Inspite of 1GHz dual-core processor and Gingerbread OS, it will surely cast some ‘Magic’ on you. Expected to be out in mid-Q2 2012, it will be available in black, silver and red. It brags of a novel 'WhiteMagic' display that adds a white pixel to RGB-panel to enhance performance.

7. Asus Padfone

The smartphone slides inside a tablet for bigger screen and better battery-life; slip the tablet into a keyboard, and it’s a laptop working as a phone. Endowed with a 4.3-inch Super-AMOLED qHD-screen, Android ICS OS, Snapdragon S4 1.5GHz dual-core processor, 8-megapixel rear and 1.3-megapixel front lens, the device is a force to reckon with. it is slated for an April release. If you fancy a three-in-one high-tech gadget? This is the one!

8. Samsung Galaxy Beam

The Android based 12.5mm thick smartphone allows you to beam photos and videos at your will, making it the first of its kind for the mass market. It is expected to hit the market by Q2 this year.

It makes an entry in our Top 10 list being the ‘pocketable projector’ phone. If you liked the Spice Popkorn, this will blow your mind.

9. Panasonic Eluga

Slender body (7.8mm-thick) and feathery weight (103g) makes it slick and chic. With 4.3-inch screen, 1GHz dual-core processor, and tags like waterproof and dustproof, it is expected to find a fan following among professionals. The device will debut in European market this March.

10. Lava Intel-based XOLO X900

India's first smartphone with Intel-based technology will hit shelves early Q2 of 2012. The latest device features Intel's smartphone reference design which includes Intel Atom processor Z2460 with Intel Hyper-Threading Technology and HSPA+ with the Intel XMM 6260 Platform. The XOLO X900 smartphone is powered by a super-fast 1.6 Ghz processor and a 4.03-inch high-resolution LCD touch screen for vibrant and crisp content.

The device sport a 8-megapixel rear camera and a secondary camera for video calling, along with a burst mode that allows you to capture 10 pictures in under a second. It comes with HDMI, NFC and HD video playback capabilities and a smooth web browsing and multitasking experience.
