The volume production of Apple's 7.85-inch iPads is likely to begin from Q3 of 2012

Apple will start the production of its 7.85-inch iPad later this year.

The latest rumors indicate that the makers in the Apple's supply chain have started delivering proof of concept or sample models of 7.85-inch iPad for approval. And if everything goes as anticipated the production of the budget friendly device will start in full swing by the third quarter of this year.

The news which comes via Digitimes noted: 'The planned launch of the 7.85-inch iPad is apparently to take on Amazon's US$199 7-inch Kindle Fire as well as a comparable model from Barnes & Noble, although Apple already took up nearly a 60% share of the tablet PC market in 2011.'

According to the site the 7.85-inch iPad will be priced somewhere between $249-299 (Rs 12,000 - Rs 15,000). It also noted that its sources indicate that the 8GB iPad 2 will be released for US$349-399 ( Rs 17,450 - Rs 19,950).

This is not the first time we have heard about Apple's Mini offering. Earlier last year we had some murmurs about LG Display and AU Optronics sending samples of a 7.85 screen with a resolution of 1024 x 768p to Apple.

As of now, there no details on what specs iPad Mini will bring. Apple could bring the best of iPad 2 and iPad 3 with iPad Mini - after all it would need to take the market by storm to get a upper hand in the already dominated Amazon Kindle market.
