The highly anticipated device from Apple, the third generation iPad has been unveiled.

Dubbed simply as iPad, the device comes power packed with enough ammo to blow the other tablets to shreds. We take a look at its top 10 features that make it a powerhouse device.

Retina Display

With a gigantic resolution of 2048 x 1536 pixels, iPad has 3.1 million pixels in total, which is 'the most ever in a mobile device'. It also supports 264ppi pixel density and 44 percent greater saturation that results in high-quality imagery.

A5X Processor

iPad features a dual core processor capable of supporting quad core graphics. Compared to a Tegra 3, Apple says the A5 is ‘twice as fast’ and the A5X offers ‘four times the performance’.

iSight Camera

The Apple iPad comes strapped to a 5-megapixel backside illuminated sensor (BSI) with a 5-element lens and ISP built into the A5X chip. It provides handy features like auto-focus, white balance and face detection along with advanced optics with IR filter.

1080P Movie Capture

The new iPad comes with full 1080P video recording capabilities. Thanks to its newly updated iMovie app it also offers an excellent platform for budding film makers to practice their art.

Voice Dictation

The addition of a new ’microphone’ key on the keyboard now brings  supports to US English, British, Australian, French, German and Japanese.

Gaming Performance

With the new iPad, you can
run graphically intensive games, thanks to the powerful  quad-core PowerVR SGV543MP4 GPU. Giving serious competition to Sony's PS Vita, some new titles which will be fun playing on the new iPad will be Infinity Blade: Dungeons, and Mass Effect Infiltrator.


While the rest of the world will see it roaming on 3G, it will offer 4G LTE for the countries that support it. The new iPad has 21Mbps HSPA+ and DC-HSDPA at 42Mbps, with 4G LTE taking the cake at 73Mbps. Apple claims this device has ‘the most bands ever’ (wireless bands).

Form and Battery Life

With a thickness of 9.4mm and weighing approximately 635g, it will continue with its ten hours of battery life on 3G and nine hours on a 4G network.

Memory and Cost

The device will be available in the 16/32/64GB variants. The16GB will be available for $499 (Rs. 25000), 32GB for $599 (Rs. 30000) and 64GB for $699 (Rs. 35000).


Expected to be Apple's biggest rollout ever, the new iPad will be available in most countries starting from March 16th.
