Sony promises to take smartphone gaming to new heights with its Xperia Mobile Gaming Arena

Gaming just got cooler with the launch of the Xperia Mobile Gaming Arena by Sony. Gaming enthusiasts are in for a lot of action in the coming days with everything Sony has in store for them.

According to Xperia Blog, Sony Mobile has tied up with Major League Gaming and Gameloft in order to give gaming a boost on smartphones. Sony is concentrating on bringing competitive gaming in a big way to mobile phones through the Xperia Mobile Gaming Arena.

Sony’s gaming platform has been in the making for a while now. In fact, users had been asked to register their interest back in October 2011.

Now, Sony is kicking off the gaming competition with Mordern Combat 3: Fallen Nation, built by Gameloft. Both Android and iOS users can battle it out on Sony’s platform for prizes worth $ 10,000/- or Rs. 5 lakhs.

In order to participate in the competition, users simply need to link their Major League Gaming and Gameloft accounts and play an eligible game. Rankings show up automatically on Xperia Mobile Gaming Arena’s leaderboard.

With the launch of the Xperia Gaming Arena, Sony is hoping to make headway into mobile gaming, leaving competitive brands behind. With all the experience and fan following the company has vis-à-vis gaming, it might be able to do just that. All it needs to succeed is some powerful hardware, sturdy, reliable phones and a strong gaming platform.

If all goes well with the Xperia Gaming Arena, Sony may well become the pioneer in a brand new, largely untapped smartphone gaming market. We will be keeping our eyes and ears open for all that’s new in Sony’s gaming world – stay with us.
