Android 4.0 update for Galaxy R will be arriving 'very soon', confirms Samsung India on its Facebook page

Galaxy R will be getting a Android ICS upgrade very soon, according to Samsung India.

Answering a query regarding Android 4.0 update for the Galaxy R on Facebook, Samsung said, 'Galaxy R’s configuration satisfies the ICS requirements. Galaxy R will also be getting ICS upgrade very soon.'

The recent statement does fortify the company's intention on rolling out the update soon. Samsung recently rolled out Android Ice Cream Sandwich update for its popular devices - the Galaxy Note and Galaxy SII.

On the spec front Galaxy R is powered by Android 2.3 OS and a 1 GHz Tegra 2 dual processor. The device boasts of a 4.19 inch super clear LCD display and comes laced with Samsung's TouchWiz user interface. The device sports a 5-megapixel camera with 720p HD video recording and a 1.3-megapixel front facing camera to capture stunning pictures. What's more, the device allows you to play console quality games thanks to GeForce GPU.

This DLNA certified smartphone also includes AllShare technology allowing you to connect to compatible DLNA based devices like TV or laptop seamlessly. While the connectivity options are taken care of through GPRS, EDGE, 3G and Wi-Fi, a strong battery capacity of 1650 mAh, assures 22 hours on 2G and 9 hours on 3G network.

In addition the device houses a internal memory of 8 GB with support for 32GB using a Micro SD card slot.
