HTC launched One V alongside its powerful sibling the HTC One S and HTC One X at MWC 2012. Despite being the less expensive of the lot, the device gives no such impression in both its look and performance department. Sony's budget smartphone in its latest line-up of Xperia branded smartphones is the Xperia U.

Running on a dual core ST Ericsson Novathor processor (clocks at 1GHz) and Android 2.3 Gingerbread, the device consists of a solid built that make for a rather comfortable grip. Despite beings fitted with a small 3.5-inch display, the clarity and color quality is not lost, thanks to the Sony's Bravia engine technology. The device also features 512MB of RAM and 8GB of onboard storage and gives a smooth performance, despite being seen as the lowliest member of the range. There is no additional card which quite a shame.

The coolest thing about the device is the narrow strip of clear plastic seen at the bottom of the handset. This strip lights up when you are making a call or there is a incoming call or in general when the phone is active. The lights mimic the colour of the background theme you select. There is also provision for you to select colors that should appear while you are, say playing music or getting a call from a particular person.

The 3G enables phone features a 5-megapixel camera with LED flash and is capable of recording HD videos at 720p. Other features include HTML5, Adobe Flash Player, Sony xLOUD engine for improved sound, Wi-Fi, DLNA, Bluetooth, and USB connectivity.
