Taking on from last year’s Optimus L Series, the new line-up of smartphones in the Optimus L II Series are set to land in India next month.
On the sideline of the recent LG Optimus G launch, Steve Koh, Director mobile communication, LG India, revealed that the second generation L-series handsets will arrive in India in March. The entry level L3 II and high-end L7 II handset will be launched first with L5 II arriving by April.
The Optimus L7 II is the most sophisticated phone in LG’s new line up which brings new and improved design elements including Seamless Layout, Laser Cut Contour, Radiant Rear Design and Smart LED Lightning on the Home Button.
The 4.3-inch IPS WVGA display equipped smartphone is fueled by a dual-core 1 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and a 2,540 mAh battery. Backed up with a 8-megapixel primary camera and a 0.3-megapixel secondary camera, the Optimus L7 II also houses a 768 MB RAM and QuickTranslator and QSlide and more.
The entry level Optimus L3 II sports a 3.2-inch screen and runs on a single-core 1 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and 1540 mah battery back up. The device also brings on board a 3-megapixel rear camera, 512MB RAM, 4GB of internal storage and 1540 mAh battery.
The last one in the group, LG Optimus L5 II flaunts a 4-inch screen with 1 GHz processor and 768 MB of RAM. It enjoys a Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and a 5-megapixel rear camera along with a 1,700 mah battery life.
The original Optimus L Series of handsets recorded phenomenal success, crossing the 15 million units sales mark and the company is hoping to cross the 45 million units sales mark this year, with the new and improved handsets in place.
Earlier Dr. Jong-Seok Park, President and CEO of LG's mobile division had said that the 'new Optimus L Series II expands upon the design philosophy of the original series so we’re quite confident that we’ll have another hit on our hands.'
The competition continues to brew in the smartphone arena and with more heavy weight handsets set to debut this year, it will be interesting to see how the Korean company holds on its own.
