As we mentioned before, Samsung Wave is powered by a 1GHz processor which ensures a uninterrupted gaming and highly responsive multi-tasking experience for the users.
While the device is very impressive, unfortunately the same cannot be said about its much hyped operating system - Bada. While we will give it a few brownie points for its striking drop-down notification bar, which provides access to the emails, updates, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and also the volume settings, it doesn't hold much ground as compared to its competitors.
Samsung Wave offers two home screen modes to the users. While the first one is highly customizable with its five home screen options, which can be used for adding shortcuts, placing widgets, the second menu acts as a add on featuring Address Book, Email and social networking tools like Twitter and Facebook. If you would like to switch between the two modes, Samsung Wave provides provision for that. All users have to do is simply press the Wave's main button, located in between the Call and End-Call button. A note of caution, first time users are likely to encounter problems while settings up the social networking and mail settings. The OS unfortunately doesn't handle things efficiently and tends to turns a simple task of messaging and sending tweets into a chore.
Also Wave's new touchscreen interface while it surpasses its previous products, does not match up to the UI's of its competitors for example the HTC sense UI in HTC Hero. Another major drawback is the lack of a introductory guide like you are likely to find on the HTC devices. First-time users will therefore have a hard time figuring things which can be quite annoying. The buttons on the side panels also pose a problem. Their dual functionality of unlocking the phone as well controlling the volume tend to mix up more than you would like. This can be frustrating experience for the user, as you may find your phone, unlocking when you are trying to just pump up the volume.
Samsung Wave comes equipped with a 5 mega-pixel camera and a host of inbuilt in functions like touch-to-focus controls, Geo-tagging, face, smile and blink detection, along with image stabilization.
So, if you are looking for a camera phone, we assure you will be really happy to have Wave a your camera phone. In addition to the camera strapped to its rear, Samsung Wave also comes with a front-facing camera. We were quite delighted to find the additional camera as it is essential for video calling. We were also impressed with Wave's video player. We are quite certain that you will be too, when you experience the video player which allows you to shoot in 720p quality and at 30fps. As expected the results as quite impressive. The device also offers good connectivity through 3G, EDGE, GPRS and Wi-Fi 802.11 which aids users in surfing web, accessing Google Maps and stay up-to-date with all the important things like where is the party tonight?
Samsung’s bada platform comes preloaded with Samsung Apps, an integrated application store accessible from the device and online. While the choices are not huge as compared to Android and Apple, mobile users at the least get to enjoy a variety of apps ranging form games, health and lifestyle and more. The Samsung Wave provides up to 15 hours talk time and comes with a 2GB internal memory which can be expandable up to 32GB.
