Equipped with a 3 mega-pixel fixed focus, LED flash camera, 11 scenes settings, smile shot and panorama options, Star comes quite handy to take pictures on the fly and under varied light conditions. It comes with a inbuilt memory of 80MB which can be expanded to 16 GB. Unfortunately there is no hot-swappable microSD card slot. This basically means that you cannot remove the card while the device is powered on. You need to switch off the device, remove the card, and then turn the device back on.
Another drawback of the device is its universal all-in-one port. This can be quite frustrating as it limits your ability to do more than one thing. For example if you are charging your phone, you cannot listen to music and vice verse. The device uses Samsung’s proprietary TouchWiz UI for getting around. It does sport a onscreen keypad, however if you are looking for a QWERTY, you can skim star from your list.
The Samsung star comes preloaded with popular social networking applications like Facebook, Flickr, Picasa, Photobucket, Friendster among others.
It also bears all the common features that all phones come equipped with like the FM Tuner, Voice Recorder, Timer, Stopwatch, audio, video player and RSS Reader.
The battery life of the handset was yet another disappointing feature. Consisting of a battery life of 1000 mAh, Star provides talk time of just about 3 hours, which does fall short for users who want to enjoy the 3G services of the phone.
Samsung Star 3G Info
Typical price: Rs 14,499
Pros:
2.8 inch screen
User friendly interface
3G compatibility
TouchWiz UI
Cons:
Low resolution screen
Low battery life

Verdict: Overall the Samsung Star 3G fairs well on the performance and features department. Bringing the high end smartphones features and technological revolution to the mobile users on budget, Samsung Star 3G may not excite you too much, but it will not disappoint you either.
