HTC ChaCha review

Published on Aug 4, 2011

The smartphone manufacturer HTC has launched another beautiful handset. This latest HTC product has is embedded with dedicated button for Facebook. Also, it is the first smartphone from the brand that has a mini qwerty keyboard. We have already seen some attempts to flock Android into such format earlier also, and we did not found them too pleasing. Let's see if HTC has succeed in coming out with something special?

Well, to find this out we will check it out from all the aspects one by one, starting with physicals. The HTC ChaCha easily adjusts in your hand with size of 114.4x64.6x10.7mm, and a good blend of plastic and metal chassis makes it solid. Surprisingly it just weighs 120 grams.

The new HTC device comes with a gently curved body, which makes you remember the old HTC Hero. You may find it a little awkward to put it inside the pocket of your tight jeans, but it provides you with a great viewing angle when you hold it to type.

We found its keyboard amazingly designed that provides a lot of space between the buttons and so, you don't type wrong words by mistake.  There are some cursor keys provided, so you can easily navigate the longer texts if you want. If you'll tap any of the key on the keypad, while being on the home screen, it will take you instantly to the contacts starting with that letter, so looking for the contacts is more convenient and faster in this handset.

We didn't find its screen so impressive. Though, there are few attributes of the ChaCha that we find interesting too. The company has well implemented capacitive technology on this smartphone and it responds amazingly to each and every touch on the screen. The HTC phone is sharp and bright with a support for 480 x 320 pixels to fit on its 2.6-inches screen.

The device allows you to zoom in and zoom out anything on just pinching over the screen. HTC has well tried to deal with the problems that its earlier devices had in this phone, which seems achieved up to a great extent. Keyboard shortcuts are there for some menus so, you need to scroll.

Its screen can be set to auto rotate, which provides you with a tall view whenever required. However, the weird thing is that it doesn't work on the pre-installed apps, like there is no tall view option provided in the web browser.
