How to hard reset the HTC Incredible S

We know that you love your new HTC Incredible S android-powered smartphone and have been fully customizing is to your liking. But maybe the fun is over and you would like a clean slate to begin with. Wondering how to do that?

Check out our guide below that will help you revert back to the factory settings. However a word of warning, all the data will be deleted from the phone as a result.  But it may or may not delete data stored on the microSD card. So to be on the safer side back up all your files and folders before you leap. 

1. From the main home screen, tap menu
2. Tap Settings, then Privacy
3. Tap Factory data reset
4. Tap Reset phone
5. Enter your password if required, then tap Erase everything to confirm

If the above doesn't work for you try out the strategy 2 below:

1. Turn the power off. If your HTC Incredible S is frozen, pull the battery out and reinsert it
2. Hold the Volume Down button
3. Press and hold the Power button until the device turns on
4. You are now presented with a menu that allows for Fastbook, Recovery, Clear Storage, and Simlock
5. Select Clear Storage by pressing the Volume Down button
6. Press and release the Power button
7. Now simply confirm your decision: Volume Up for YES and Volume Down for NO

After the process is complete, the phone will reboot to its factory settings and you can start afresh!
