HTC Legend review and Indian prices

The HTC Legend sports a 5 megapixel camera which takes highly saturated shots. This isn't a particularly bad thing, as it's an effect hard to master on many camera phones, but it does make photos look a little unnatural at times.

There's also an issue with photos taken in direct sunlight - they tend to look bleached out in places, with a misty glow around objects.

Details however, are clear, and it's easy to focus on subjects with the tap to focus function.

One minor grumble is about the battery life. Although smartphones are well-known for poor battery life, we thought the iPhone was the worst. Now there's a contender for that title, with the HTC Legend.

It does improve considerably when you switch off 3G, but with homescreen widgets such as weather and the already slow Friendstream to update, it's very hard to switch to GPRS.

However, if you're prepared to charge at least once a day, fine. If not, you may want to look to a less powerful Android 2.1 device.

The HTC Legend is a top all-rounder when it comes to smartphones.

It looks sleek, feels sleek and the improved HTC Sense interface showcases enough of the excellent Android 2.1 OS without completely swamping it to make the Legend a stunner.

On turning on the HTC Legend, the screen comes live with the tagline 'HTC: Quietly brilliant'. We certainly agree with that claim when it comes to this latest HTC's smartphone.

HTC Legend info

Typical price: Rs. 23,490

Pros:
Improved HTC Sense UI
Sleek design
Android 2.1
Multi touch activated

Cons:
Awkward battery cover
Friendstream slow to update
Poor battery life

Verdict: The HTC Legend is our favourite Android device to date. It's fast, fully-featured and implements HTC's improved Sense interface beyond our expectations. Perfectly topped off with the stunning design, only the battery life lets it down.

Rating: 4.5 out of 5
