Sony sure seems to be on a roll these days, with a line-up of good looking, functional handsets stealing the show one after another. The latest addition to Sony's portfolio is an inexpensive phablet christened Xperia C. We round up everything about the newbie.
The Xperia C is a dual-Sim, dual-standby handset that is powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6589 processor, a PowerVR SGX544 GPU and either a 2100 or a 2390 mAh battery. It runs on Android's Jelly Bean operating system, either version 4.1 or 4.2. It's 1 GB RAM is accompanied by 4 GB of internal storage which is expandable by up to 32 GB externally.
Sony's phablet packs in a 5-inch TFT qHD display that sports a resolution of 960 x 540 pixels and a pixel density of 220ppi. The device is also equipped with an 8-megapixel primary camera and a 0.3-megapixel front facing secondary snapper. Its Exmor R sensor has the ability to capture 1080p HD video. Its other features include LED flash, auto focus, geo-tagging, touch focus, HDR, face and smile detection etc. Connectivity options on the handset include 3G, GPS, Bluetooth, MicroUSB, DLNA, GPRS, EDGE and Wi-Fi.
Given its dimensions of 141.5 x 74.2 x 8.9mm and weight of 153g, it is a sleek, slim handset that is easy to carry and use. Sony's newbie will retail in black, white and purple variants and is likely to be priced in the under Rs. 15,000 price range, close to Rs. 14,500.
