Sony Xperia Z2 with 20.7-megapixel is speculated to break cover early next year

Since the advent of this year, Sony has launched several highly anticipated models starting with Xperia Z to the latest Xperia Z1. However, the rumor mills around the upcoming devices from the Japanese vendor seem to be buzzing excitedly about what appears to be the sucessor of its latest flagship, Xperia Z1.

It has been only a few weeks since the company announced Xperia Z1, a camera-centric phone with a 20.7-megapixel rear shooter on board and the rumors are already hinting at Xperia Z2 to be a even bigger badass smartphone.

Earlier rumors point that the Xperia Z2 will be made official during CES 2014, but a PhoneArena report suggests that the handset will be arriving in April 2014 and that Sony will not be introducing its flagship models at the CES tech show.

Besides the alleged April release date of Xperia Z2, a report by AndroidSaS claims that the Xperia Z2 will feature a 5.2-inch Triluminos and IGZO display with 1080p Full HD resolution totaling to a pixel density of 506ppi, which is a significant increase from 468ppi in HTC One.

Also, the report adds that the device will be equipped with a 20.7-megapixel primary camera with Xenon Flash and that it will come pre-installed with Android 4.4 KitKat. There are speculations that the device will be powered with Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor paired with 3GB of RAM as in Galaxy Note 3 for enhanced multi-tasking and a 3,200 mAh battery.

However, these are only rumored specifications and we need to wait until Sony announces something about its forthcoming handset.

But, what is clear is that the vendor is  set to give tough competition to its rivals next year.
